Coeliac or celiac?

Some write Coeliac Disease and other write celiac disease. Are they both names of the same thing?

Okay. Do you know if one is British and one American? Or are both used in both places?

I know people from the UK who use celiac. Although after looking online, Coeliac is perceived to be the British spelling and the other American.

The word coeliac is derived from the Greek word koiliakos, which means pain in the bowels.

Aha! It makes sense that the little more sloppy spelling is American. ;-)
