GF Review: Handmade Burger Co, UK
Fancy a burger? Gluten-free bun included!
This week I returned to Manchester to catch up with old friends over a spot of lunch! After scrolling through my O2 priority app, I came across a voucher for two burgers for £12 at Handmade Burger Co. So I headed to their website and found that they were accredited by Coeliac UK and offered proper gluten-free burgers with a BUN, none of this naked burger rubbish that I have seen elsewhere, our decision was final!
We went mid-week at 12 PM so the place was relatively quiet and our party of four was seated straight away. Their menu was massive! They offered anything from a classic cheeseburger, chicken peri-peri to even one topped with peanut butter or stuffed with cheese!! The best bit is that the chips are also GF, and come in a chunky chip-shop style that can be plain, cheesy, seasoned or topped with pulled pork!
I decided to go with the traditional beef with avocado and bacon and plain chips. It came served in an unpacked fashion, with the bun clearly labelled GF and wrapped separately to avoid any Cross-contamination. It was like a fun child's build-your-own-burger and I felt secure knowing measures had been taken to prevent any severe consequences that come with Coeliac Disease. The burger itself was gigantic and the burger bun stayed intact the entire time, unlike other GF burger buns that crumble at every touch!
Handmade Burger Co definitely gave me one of my best Gluten free burger experience to date! It is affordable and offers something for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan options. They do have a few restaurants across the nation but their family owned and independent business values still shine through, I would highly recommend you check one of their joints out!
All the best, Leia

Maybe it's just me but I would have liked the restaurant to put it in the bun. However it's understandable if it eliminates any chance of cross contamination.
