Where is the best place for breakfast and brunch in Dublin you ask?

Before I begin I would just like to make clear I am by no means a food expert. But being coeliac means that travelling to new places and eating out can be a struggle and daunting experience! Therefore, I often rely on the internet to discover other people’s experiences and recommendations, so I can find somewhere that offers great food and more importantly will not make me ill. So, I’ve decided to write about my experiences in hope that they may Help at least one other person.

To welcome 2018, I decided to spend the weekend in Dublin, Ireland. I stayed for two nights at the Harrington Hall Hotel. Even though breakfast was an option there, I never asked if gluten-free was available as it was around €12 per person and I felt that could find more for my money elsewhere. Nevertheless, the hotel was lovely, and the staff were great, the location wasn’t completely central but only a ten-minute walk to the main high street making it a more affordable option.

Anyway, on to the main event; Lemon Crepe & Coffee Co. Located right next to the high-street and only two-minute walk from the next ‘Hop on Hop off bus stop’ you couldn’t be in a better place to commence your day of being a tourist. They offered freshly prepared crepes, sandwiches, omelettes, and pastries, however, only the omelettes and crepes were offered as GF.

I went during the weekday at around 9/10AM. It had a trendy feel and was quite busy with a quick turnover of customers and a fast pace service. The menu was very extensive, and I felt spoiled for choice! The first day I decided to take advantage of the breakfast deals, great if you’re on a budget as it included a crepe and a hot drink.  The second day I had a power crepe. I also couldn’t resist trying the strawberry Nutella crepe.

Everything was cooked from scratch, sourcing free range, fair trade, organic and Irish produce. The GF crepes are a buckwheat galette and if you explain you are coeliac they draw attention to it on the receipt and prepare it so there is no risk of Cross-contamination.  You can definitely see the difference between the gluten-free and Gluten crepe, however, I thought it still tasted delicious! This is the perfect place for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat!

If you have any more questions about Gluten eating in Dublin I will try to advise the best I can!

All the best, Leia

This looks so yummy! How did the buckwheat taste? Ive tried to make buckwheat waffles before but the flavour of buckwheat was a bit too overpowering for me.

#1 I really enjoyed it! I always ask my friends to try my food to see if they can taste a difference and they said it was pretty much the same.
